wednesday

Wednesday 1st June
On Wednesday we started off at 8.30 to go to the high speed train station and caught a train to Taichung – the train travelled at over 270 km per hour - from here we caught a coach to the National Earthquake Museum. It was a school that was hit by an earthquake in 1999 over 2000 people were killed and it was then restored into a museum to teach the next generation how to prepare and cope with an earthquake. We saw what causes different types of earthquakes and how to reduce the risk of disaster.
Then we went to the Confucius Temple which was a Buddhist place of worship, some students went to the martyrs shrine  and didn’t go to the actual temple but some went in and met a group of primary school students and their teacher who were preparing for the dragon boat festival and were presented with  a package made of pandan leaves and duck with sticky rice. We were very honored. The teachers let us try it and it was really nice.
Then we took a short journey to the Rain Forest conservatory it was amazing seeing the waterfall and the fishing as well as learning about the plants. After about 20 minutes we got back on the coach to go to the tea ceremony and practice how to do professional Chinese tea making, during this time we also got to feed the Koi fish in the pond.

Finally we went to a food court to have dinner. There was a range of different foods; mainly Chinese but there was some other different cultured food. Then we caught a train back to the hotel for an early night- busy day tomorrow.
